Gainsborough is a lovely old Georgian Bow Rocking Horse. Bow rocking horses, especially early ones like Gainsborough, are largely unattributed as their makers have been lost in the shrouds of time, but we know of several of this type of horse that exists today so can be assured that he was a competent and prolific maker of fine rocking horses of the period. Georgian rocking horses are often set low on the bow which belies their true size, and Gainsborough is a big horse who is up to considerate riding by a small adult.
