FH Ayres 38.5 Ex Carved Fully Restored

Small size, very fine, extra carved, pillar stand rocking horse made by F.H.Ayres of London circa 1880and would have been classed as size 5 by the maker. It has been sympathetically restored by A.E.P.S. Rocking Horses.

The height is 38.5 inches from floor to the tip of the ears and the base is 50 inches long and 18 inches high. The rocking horse has been in our family for a long time.

The restoration was done in the autumn of 2002 by Stuart and Pamela McPherson. They are members of the British Toymakers Guild

and are listed on the Conversation Register of the Museums & Galleries Commission, London. I have documentation of the restoration including photographs.
 
This is a beautiful rocking horse in very good condition having been used very little since the renovation.

There is a small chip to the paintwork on one of the ears which can be seen in one of the pictures and there is an old mend on the wooden foot bar which has been glued and pinned with dowel.
